STED

SeARCH’s timeless and sustainable design for plot 42A in IJburg is about finding your perfect niche in the city. Through carefully considered thresholds of public and private space STED balances an active urban life with a peaceful place of retreat.

The undulating recreational surface of the quay is central to the life of the design. Here everything intersects; all leisure and cultural functions are connected with the entrances of the houses, the kiosks and the shared facilities. Within, urban commerce is an extension of the dwelling; the living room of a bar, the terrace of a kiosk or the grand dining room of a restaurant. Along the waters edge the promenade and the beach offers an outdoor space for inhabitants and the wider neighbourhood. Above all this is a roof garden, a green sanctuary overlooking the water.

To the east STED offers affordable rental housing for singles, starters and families. To the west owner-occupier properties sit alongside the water, ranging from 40 to 200 m2. STED also offers highly flexible casco modules of 60m2, where you decide how much space you require and how you wish to shape this space. Here you could add a home office of 60m2 or create a palatial multi-generational house of 600m2.
